When it comes to inking, pen and paper are still in high demand which holds the emotional value of writing with actual ball point pen that stylus can not replace. We came out with a concept called Duo pen that consist of a ballpoint pen on one side and a stylus tip on the other side. This hybrid device may solve some of the challenges associated with carrying multiple pens and yet not compromising the emotional value of writing with an actual pen within a same product. One of the greatest challenges was making it clear to the user which side of the stylus tip he/she is grasping without being able to see it. For differentiation, we introduced different patterns providing contextual grips. I lead the duo pen project with one of our intern designer together.
